UPDATE ON H1N1 SITUATION:
Although the H1N1 virus appears to be widespread in Ross County, as of Friday October 30, 2009, there have been no deaths in Ross County due to H1N1. So far we have only five lab confirmed cases, but it is likely that most of the "influenza A" circulating is H1N1. The best defense against influenza is to wash your hands regularly; to cover your coughs and sneezes and encourage others to do the same; and should you choose to do so, to avoid crowds or gatherings in which you may come into close contact with an infected person. Never send your child to school if they are not feeling well. Children who have flu-like symptoms should not return to school until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medications. Also, persons who maintain a healthy diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables, and daily physical activity, will be healthier and may have a better chance of avoiding a serious influenza infection.
